One of the major car warranty suppliers has revealed a list of the ten costliest faults that it paid out in 2018. The list of top 10 most expensive repairs for the year include repairs that cost the company between £8,928 and £5,009 to fix.

The most expensive repair that was paid out on insurance for the year was a cooling fan motor for a Lamborghini Aventador. It cost £8,928 to replace. The second and third big insurance payouts were for a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 engine and an Audi A1 Engine. These two repairs cost £8,709 and £6,254. The list continues with a McLaren gearbox at £6,084, a Land Rover engine at £5,900, a Ford clutch at £5,524, a Mercedes engine at £5,306, a BMW engine at £5,239, a Skoda fuel system at £5,084 and a Nissan differential which cost £5,009.
Lawrence Whittaker, the CEO of Warrantywise, the warranty company that issued the data, said: ‘If your car breaks down, then the chances are that you will be given an expensive repair bill. It is not just top of the range supercars that are expensive to repair when they break down: as our top ten paid repairs list shows, even the likes of Nissan, Mercedes and Skoda can still incur high repair bills. It just goes to show that every car has the potential to go wrong and cost a packet to put right.”
